Students admitted in and after 2020

1. GE Core courses

  • Among the 4 dimensions of Core courses, students are required to complete at least one Core course from each dimension. Students need to complete at least four Core courses before graduation.
  • Each GE Core course is marked with its dimension under the course title (please click here to Division of Curriculum for details).

2. GE Elective courses

  • Open to student choice among the 3 major areas of Elective GE courses.
  • If taking artistic skill-based courses, only 2 credits at most can be counted as Elective GE course credits.

3. The total credits of both GE Core and GE Elective courses must be not less than 20 credits.

4. Students can only register 3 GE courses at most via the online course selection platform in each semester (including Core GE courses).

5. Undergraduate students, who want to register for more than 3 GE courses, and graduate students, who want to register for more than 1 GE course, should apply for 'Electronic extra selection' and seek approval from the course instructor. A separate application to the Center for General Education is not required.

6. Some GE courses are not recognized as General Education credits if the students are not the specific target group of the particular GE courses. If the GE course is marked by restriction code (such as *3 or *7), the credits will not be counted as GE credits if your own department or college has offered the same course.

  • From academic year 2020 onward, the updated dimension of each Core GE course is marked in the column of “Remarks” (please click here to Division of Curriculum for details).
