Event overview: For this Prof. Hsien-Liang Koo Memorial General Education Lecture, we have specially invited the Indigenous singer Panai to perform at NTHU.
Panai is a multifaceted figure; beyond being a musician, she is also a writer and a social activist. She chronicled her 2,644-day protest experience on Ketagalan Boulevard and in the 228 Peace Memorial Park in her book, Return to the Motherland. Furthermore, her musical works have earned widespread recognition, including accolades from Taiwan's Golden Melody Awards, the Golden Indie Music Awards, and Singapore's Freshmusic Awards.
Through Panai's musical creations and her activism for Indigenous traditional territories, this event aims to help NTHU faculty and students gain a profound understanding of the social momentum that emerges from the intersection of contemporary Taiwanese music and diverse ethnic cultures.
