Hsinchu Talks at Tsing Hua
 
      在時代的長河中，新竹這座城市以獨特的歷史紋理與人文風貌，承載著百年來的繁華與轉變，深深感動每個與新竹連結的人。清華大學通識中心114年「通識人物講座」即是從分享這份感動的開始。講座以「新竹人，清華說」為主題規劃了五場演講，主題包括人文發展、城市演變、藝術網絡及文化政策，帶領聽眾眺望時光的街口，感受新竹的深厚底蘊與前行力量。
      講座首場為「繁榮的起點：北門大街」，將由周益記、內翰第的屋主親述昔日繁華與保存家宅的心思；「家族風采：進士與孝子」則以鄭用錫與李錫金的故事，展現血濃於水的精神與傳承。「歷史的新生命：同知衙署復原與同知宴」邀請復原推手與團隊，述說歷史地點與文化創意的融合；文化政策與新竹發展」主題，由文化領航者探討政策如何形塑城市未來。壓軸的「書畫網絡的新竹」讓書畫不只是骨董，更是流動於生活中的文化實踐與審美日常。  
      本次講座特別串聯竹松社區大學「風城觀察家」走讀系列與大碩藝境「拾光：竹塹百年書畫展」，邀請聽眾不只是「聽見新竹人」，更透過五感親身走入風城記憶，觸摸百年文化的脈動。
      五場精選講座、三場走讀導覽與一場跨越時代的特展，環環相扣，交織出新竹豐富的歷史長卷與多元的未來想像。從街區到展場，從講堂到田野，清華大學通識教育中心攜手在地各界，不僅促成清華師生與城市的深度對話，更共同肩負起文化永續的責任，讓每一次參與都成為再認識新竹的契機。

This fall, the Center for General Education at National Tsing Hua University launches the Holistic Worldview Lecture Series: “Hsinchu People Talk in Tsing Hua.” The program features five public lectures, three city tours, and one special exhibition, inviting you to rediscover Hsinchu’s cultural context and envision its future.
The lecture series runs from October 30 to November 13, every Tuesday and Thursday evening (7:00–8:30 p.m.) at the Education Building, Room 311. The following are the introductions to each lecture.
Prosperity from Beimen Street (10/30) highlights the stories of historic mansions and their preservation.
Family Heritage: Jinshi (Presented Scholar) and Filial Son (11/4) explores the values embodied in the Cheng and Li families.
Breathing New Life into History: The Restoration of the Magistrate’s Office and the Magistrate’s Banquet (11/6) discusses how heritage revival merges with cultural creativity.
Cultural Policy and Hsinchu’s Development (11/11) examines how policy shapes the city’s identity and future.
Artistic Networks in Hsinchu (11/13) reveals how calligraphy and painting continue to inspire everyday cultural life.
Additionally, the “Hsinchu Observer” city tours, organized by Green Pine Community College, guide participants through historic neighborhoods. Meanwhile, the special exhibition “Moments in Time: A Century of Calligraphy and Painting in Hsinchu” (Oct. 8–Dec 31 at DA SOUL Gallery) showcases the city’s artistic heritage.
Through lectures, city tours, and special exhibitions, this series aims to inspire you to see, feel, and reimagine Hsinchu, a city where history and modernity meet.
